Rick Kennington was born and raised in West Valley City, Utah. Rick has always had an interest in art, especially drawing and sculpting. He received an art scholarship to SLCC where Kennington pursued his interest in oil painting then transferred to the University of Utah to further his education in Fine Art.
     Kennington was commissioned to do artwork for West Valley City which is displayed in the Utah Cultural Celebration Center. He has also displayed artwork in Salt Lake County libraries and participated in many public art viewings in the state of Utah. Rick Kennington's work is currently being displayed at the Seasons Gallery in Alpine, Utah and Pioneer Anglers Fly Rod Shop in Afton Wyoming. .
     Most of Kennington's paintings are landscapes and western art. During the past few years, he expanded his art career by doing commissioned portraiture which has been a great opportunity for him and has also brought a lot of joy.
     While growing up, Rick spent much time in the outdoors, and acquired a particular love for fishing. He also spent a lot of time on his grandfather’s farm in Star Valley, Wyoming. Many of Kennington's paintings reveal these passions that inspire his paintings.

“I have a deep appreciation for all kinds of artwork. my own style of art varies from a loose impressionistic style with bright vibrant colors, to an art style that depicts fine detail. I have tried all types of oil painting and will continue to study all different forms of art. I believe that there is always room to expand and grow in all forms of talent and hope that I will always have the opportunity to bring joy to others through my artwork.”
