Angela Woods

My paintings have a lot of emotions that convey a certain atmosphere. Although I draw upon my life experiences for inspiration, I hope that viewers see my work through their own experiences and feelings.
Many viewers have remarked about my use of black and white, with limited color. My concepts are random, but simple. They often remind people of a place or event in their own or someone else's past.
I am still evolving as an artist. Getting the values right is always a challenge with black and white painting. I use many layers to achieve this. Although I appreciate and employ realism, I always render it through my own reality.

Angela Woods is currently a student earning a degree in animation and visual art & design. Her background includes tile and mural design, illustration for children’s books, posters and greeting cards.
Angela’s tile designs have been sold nationally and are in production today. She designed tile murals for metropolitan San Francisco and Los Angeles restaurants and showrooms. A ceramic cannister set of her design sold at JC Penny stores. Angela’s other commercial work includes design of logo and storefront display for Outdoor Outlet in St. George.
As an illustrator, her work can be seen in A Gathering of Dragons, a children’s book available at Barnes & Noble, Amazon.com, and other book retailers. She designed, published, and distributed a series of children's art posters, depicting dinosaurs and contemporary wildlife in a variety of environments, as well as a line of wildlife-themed greeting cards. Her work has been purchased by collectors throughout the west and has appeared in annual art exhibitions sponsored by the Utah Arts Council.
Angela has also used her talents on a more personal level, teaching art to disadvantaged and emotionally challenged students at the Red Rock School in St. George.
After obtaining her degree, she hopes to work in the film industry as well as developing her long-time interests in fantasy art, black and white photography, and painting.
