Making photographs and sculpture brings imagination, light, nature, time and space together with a transcendence to reality for me. Poulson's photography allows him to make ethereally beautiful natural images depicting the nether realm of natural impressionism. Similarly, He seek the creative range in direct stone sculpture to release form from stone with emotional traces.
Poulson's images and sculptures rarely refer to a specific location or “real” element. They may point to places both distant, and nearby, physically present or ethereal, all the while reaching to engage the viewer more with aesthetic essence than drama. HeI seek not only to capture the physical realm, but go beyond to conceptual interpretation.
